What a fantastic effort throughout 2024!

The purpose of the scheme is to improve 2km of coastal flood defences in Central Rhyl to protect homes, businesses and the tourist economy from flooding events and coastal erosion well into the future.

The eastern section consists of 1 to 3 tonne rock scour protection to the foundations of the existing defences. The rock is mostly buried beneath the existing beach level and there will be new walkways constructed through the rocks to maintain beach access.

The western section consists of a new stepped revetment, raised and widened promenade and new seawall with improved access via steps and a ramp to the beach.

Current activities:
▪️ PCC rear promenade bullnose walls and stitch beams
▪️ RC insitu rear promenade walls
▪️ PCC revetment installation
▪️ Sheet pile installation for new access ramp
▪️ Access ramp PCC anchor walls and tie-rod system
▪️ 6N filling operations
▪️ Waterproofing to existing walls
▪️ Surface water drainage, insitu revetments at outfalls

A huge well done to the Balfour Beatty plc & D Morgan plc site team, specialist sub-contractors and the wider supply chain for the progress made to date.

Santa has made an early Christmas drop at the Cash for Kids Liverpool & North Wales #MissionChristmas HQ based at Birkenhead Car & Van Hire/Sales. Our People have been generously donating gifts and money for this great charity.

As we look forward to celebrating our 75th year in 2025, it was a pleasure to have two of our 〽️ team join in on the action with a combined service of 75 years between them! Malcolm, Low Loader Driver, with a service of 42 years and Roy, JCB 3CX Operator with 33 years!

Each year, we support Cash for Kids Mission Christmas so they can help make sure Santa reaches children living in poverty each Christmas.

Our works are well underway where we are the Principal Contractor for the improvements to the northbound exit slip road at Junction 17 on the M6 motorway and a new junction layout on the A534 Old Mill Road Corridor between Sandbach and Congleton for access to a future business park development.

Thank you to the 〽️ team and our committed supply chain for the continued efforts on this challenging project which includes overnight road closures with tight time constraints.

Cash for Kids - Hits Radio - Bauer Media Group

Our works are almost complete for the construction of two trial surcharge embankments, one with vertical band drains and a trial sewer to support the design of a future residential development. This trial will gather data on ground movement over time to assess:

1️⃣ The rate and amount of initial soil settlement (primary consolidation).
2️⃣ The rate and amount of long-term settlement (creep).
3️⃣ The effectiveness of band drains in speeding up soil settling.

The trial sewer will help test if the proposed deep sewer system can handle the site’s ground conditions before construction, informing the drainage plan for the proposed development.

〽 Training & Development Programme for our Plant Operators.

From a virtual world utilising Tenstar Simulation AB , to real world hands-on experience at our Training & Development Site.

In our tailored training sessions, dependant on plant operator experience, we utilise the wide range of in-built exercises and with the integration of a Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon MCP80 screen, we use our own machine control training model on the simulator. We also have the added benefit of heading out to our own Training & Development Site to use the same model in a real world environment on both dozers and excavators for a variety of tasks.

With winter approaching and the shorter days, there are increased hazards on construction sites, we have launched our annual ‘Winter is Coming’ Safety Campaign.

This campaign reminds everyone of the darker nights, impending cold weather and the necessary precautions we should all take to ensure we remain safe.

Let’s look out for each other this winter – THE D MORGAN WAY – Think Safety, Act Safely.

Yesterday, members of our 〽 team attended the Faculty of Engineering & Technology Recruitment Fair for Liverpool John Moores University , to discuss opportunities with D Morgan and give advice to degree students about careers in our industry.

In attendance from D Morgan - Training Coordinator Mihaela Andronie , HR Coordinator Katie McDonald , Kieran Kershaw who is currently undertaking a Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with LJMU, and Charlie Matthews , an LJMU Civil Engineering Graduate.

This year's theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is workplace mental health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.

We recently completed Phase 1 and 2 at Deyes High School🏫 where we were the Partner of Choice for Kier Construction to deliver the bulk earthworks, deep drainage, internal drainage, foundations with holding down bolts, lift pit, ducting, floor slabs, and external works including an amphitheatre.

Phase 3 is due to start soon. Keep up the great work Team 〽

Works have commenced on Unit 4 of Omega West, where we are the partner of choice to deliver the bulk earthworks. A fantastic milestone achieved by the 〽 team.

Our second careers fair visit to Coop Academy Woodslee Primary School was such a great event. The children were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and wanted to learn more about construction and what the industry had to offer. Hopefully we will see them in the years to come operating our machines or as a Quantity Surveyor or Civil Engineer!

What a lovely surprise! The children of hashtag #RivacreValleyPrimarySchool invited D Morgan to their D Day concert where we were presented with all these lovely thank you cards for their new play area.
Just by giving a little to the local community can mean so much to them. We will be back there soon for another little project, watch this space...
